Nutrient Management...

A lot of discussion these days is focusing on nutrient management and the proposed "Nutrient Management Act" being put forth by the Ontario government.  It is suggested by the spring of 2003, this proposed legislation will be law. In effect, any operation that deals with nutrients of any kind, will need to provide a comprehensive strategy for the application, distribution, and management of this type of resource.

According to the act "nutrient" means fertilizers, organic materials, biosolids, compost, manure, septage, pulp and paper sludge, and other material applied to land for the purpose of improving the growing of agricultural crops or for the purpose of a prescribed use, but does not include any material that the regulations specify does not come within the definition of "nutrient"; ("élément nutritif")

Sprucedale Agromart has been very active in the production of Nutrient Management Plans for Ontario farmers, business and organizations. Beef, dairy, swine, chicken, cash croppers and golf courses may be the "tip of the ice burg" of organizations that will require a under the new legislation.

At the present time, we have been developing plans for our client based on the guidelines set out by the municipality affected by application of these nutrients.  We also follow the outline provided by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs to ensure that we have designed a strategy that satisfies the legal requirements of all the parties involved.

Whether you have need of a N.M.P. as a requirement for a building project or you are taking a pro-active approach and want to have a plan in place as a good management practices for your operation,  Sprucedale Agromart can help. Over the last several years we have been developing these plans to assist our clients, and we have been 100% successful.
